The American Legion is built on a promise from men and women who swore with their lives to defend and protect the United States through military service. The promise begins at enlistment, grows through training and discipline in the U.S. Armed Forces and continues after discharge, as veterans in service to community, state and nation.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a voluntary program through which a professional support team oversees a mature, sincere adult volunteer in the development of a supportive, long–term friendship with a child. Often viewed as a recreational program, our greater mission or goal is fun and friendship, with an emphasis on the prevention or early intervention of potential difficulties that children may encounter or develop. Recruiting, screening, enrolling, training and matching responsible volunteers with children on a one-to-one basis is done by the Enrollment Specialists at Big Brothers Big Sisters. Big Brothers Big Sisters works in conjunction with area schools, community social services agencies and other referral sources to better meet youths’ needs. The Match Support Specialists monitor and evaluate the progress of the match on a regular basis through required monthly contacts with the volunteer, child and parent/guardian.
